Help us to make it work. |
There are two types of appointment.
You can either book up to two weeks in advance for an appointment with the doctor of your choice.
Or, if the problem is urgent you can book on the day to see the duty doctor. You will not be able to choose the doctor for these appointments. As that doctor will also be on call for emergency visits you may have to wait if the doctor has been called out. We have asked our receptionists to ensure that the morning surgery is full before starting to book appointments in the afternoon.
In an emergency, you will be seen immediately. Others waiting must understand that this could result in a delay to their appointment but one day it could be them needing urgent attention.
Appointments can be made at the reception desk or by telephone. We have two receptionists answering the phone at the beginning of the day to cope with extra calls.
We have more appointment slots in the day than the number of patients that used to be seen with the old open access system so there should be no pressure on availabilty. We have found that the work is now more evenly spread out over the week. There is a high demand for appointments on Mondays and after Bank Holidays so we ask you to avoid requesting appointments on these days unless the problem is urgent.
We are continuously auditing the new system and will make changes if we find that problems are arising. Your feedback is important and we would welcome any comments. You can e- mail our Practice Manager or speak to any staff member.
